Family’s pleas to go to trial denied; Bradley Perez gets sentenced to six years

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A teenager who stabbed a man to death at a party in northwest Bakersfield was sentenced today. The victim’s family spoke out against this sentencing, saying the plea bargain in the case is injustice.

Bradley Perez, 19, was sentenced to six years in prison but is going to spend less than five years due to good behavior and his time already spent in jail.

Perez stabbed Lawrence Leyvas, 20, during a fight at a house party, killing him. Leyvas’ family was in court futilely begging the judge to reject the plea offer.
