CLEVELAND — Olivia Bean was nine years old when she and her mother were staying in a motel outside Cleveland. Every day, she took three buses to get to the now closed Corlett Elementary School.
“My mom didn’t have a job at the time, and so she found a friend who was willing to let us stay in his motel because there were two beds,” Bean said. “And it just happened to be kind of far away from school, but it was what we had.”
