RIGA TWP. — A Blissfield man was killed on Oct. 1 after colliding with a semitrailer while driving in the wrong lane, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 3:40 p.m. to a crash on U.S. 223 near Rodesiler Highway between a 2024 Tesla Model 3 and a 2020 International semitrailer. Both vehicles were on fire when deputies arrived.
The investigation showed that the driver of the Tesla, a 45-year-old Blissfield man, had been driving west but went into the wrong lane, continuing to drive there and apparently making no attempt to avoid the eastbound semi. The vehicles collided head-on, causing the Tesla to be pushed under the semi. Both vehicles continued east for a short distance before coming to rest in a ditch.
