Jackson 5th worst city for residents with disabilities: report

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – An annual report showed that the capital city again ranked as among the country’s worst for those with disabilities.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 28% of Americans have some type of disability. In 2023 and 2024, WalletHub ranked Jackson as the 180th best place for such Americans to live out of 182 major cities. For 2025, its ranking improved slightly, but only by two places. As a result, Jackson ranks as the fifth-worst city for Americans with a disability.

Of the 10 cities ranked at the bottom of the list, five are in the South. Two cities are in Mississippi, two are in Alabama and one is in Louisiana. Gulfport ranked as the worst city for Americans with disabilities nationally in 2023 and 2024. Like Jackson, Gulfport also rose two places for 2025 to 180th best in WalletHub’s rankings…
