PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police have identified a man suspected of threatening gas station workers with a gun before he was shot by police officers last month. The bureau has released police body-worn camera footage of the incident.
On Sept. 20, police officers responded to a disturbance on Southeast Foster Road around 8:45 a.m. When they arrived, they determined a man armed with a gun had threatened a gas station employee before driving away. About 30 minutes later, police received an additional call reporting the man, later identified by Portland police as 30-year-old Bryan Velasco-Ruelas, allegedly threatened another employee at a gas station in the area of Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Division Street.
