After 16 years, Portland beer brand will close brewery and taproom

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A business that has been a staple in Portland’s beer industry will call it quits at the end of this year.

Earlier this week, Upright Brewing announced that its taproom at 240 N Broadway will cease operations in late December. The brewery, held in the same location, will also cease production in “a couple of months,” according to the announcement.

“Upright has been a proud part of the Portland beer scene for over sixteen years, a time that has been a bit of a roller coaster with change in the industry and the world at large,” the owners said on Instagram. “It has been an incredible experience on our end, and I hope that we helped people feel joy and stimulation, whether it was by way of a tasty beer or an honest chat in the taproom.”

The brand’s Beer Station at 7151 NE Prescott will continue operations, although it will eventually offer drinks from other breweries as well. The business is hoping other members of Portland’s beer scene will take over its original brewery location, with owners noting that no one has expressed interest so far…
