Move over, Batman—Houston’s citizens have taken crime-fighting into their own hands.
In the midst of growing concerns over what some are calling the “Houston Bayou Serial Killer,” residents of the Bayou City are ditching Netflix true crime documentaries in favor of starring in one of their own. Armed with smartphones, running shoes and no shortage of meme-ready commentary, amateur detectives have taken to the trails—and to TikTok—hoping to crack a chilling case that has both horrified and captivated the city.
In just the past two weeks, six bodies have been recovered from Houston bayous, including Brays, Greens, White Oak, and Buffalo Bayou. The victims, according to officials, range in age from their early 20s to their mid-60s, and one remains unidentified. While the Houston Police Department has not linked the deaths—and explicitly denied the presence of a serial killer—many online aren’t convinced…
