Giving Sight Day at Insight Eyecare
Giving Sight Day is a part of a statewide effort to fight against vision loss, especially in underserved communities. Insight Eyecare in Glenpool and Jenks is providing free exams and glasses. For many, it’s their first eye checkup in years so it can be life changing. Dr. Jacob Allred says the goal is simple: remove the financial barriers that keep people from getting the eyecare they need.
“It’s important to us you know with the landscape of health care changing, things like that, some people are left without health care, or some people are just, they have it, but they still can’t afford the glasses portion itself,” he said.
Clearer Sight, Brighter Lives
For patients like Mariela Lopez, who don’t have vision insurance, the costs can add up. She says she spends at least $300-$400 each eye visit. But Giving Sight Day means seeing the world in focus again. And she says not owing anything makes it even better.
“I actually came here last year, I heard about it last year and I came back to make sure everything was good and get an extra pair of glasses,” she said.
A Statewide Effort
Giving Sight Day the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians’ largest event and it has brought in nearly $50,000 in exams, frames and lenses in past years…
