Reno, Nev. – Showers and a few afternoon thunderstorms could dampen Reno and surrounding valleys Friday, but drier and warmer weather quickly takes over by Saturday. The National Weather Service in Reno warns that gusty winds and brief downpours may impact drivers on I-580 and US-395 during the Friday commute, with up to a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
According to the Weather Service, the best window for thunderstorms will be after 2 p.m. Friday, when highs reach the upper 60s to low 70s. Winds may gust near 20 mph, producing brief visibility reductions. By Friday night, lingering showers fade with lows dipping into the low 40s.
Saturday through early next week looks seasonably pleasant, forecasters said. Highs will climb into the mid-60s to mid-70s with abundant sun and light breezes. Overnight lows will stay cool, mostly in the 40s. The stable stretch should benefit outdoor events in downtown Reno and around Lake Tahoe, with no major travel hazards expected…
