Two men arrested after found at construction site in Leesburg

A pair of Okahumpa men were arrested after trespassing at a construction site to take scrap metal without permission.

Officers responded to a possible burglary at a construction site, located at 26909 Quarters Rd., Okahumpka, around 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The caller advised that multiple people, later identified as 46-year-old Thomas Stephen Kudela and 34-year-old Corie Courtland Lytle, were on the property with flashlights.

Upon arrival, the officers saw the property fenced off with black fabric and posted with “No Trespassing” signs. They started searching the area and found a gray pickup truck parked under the overhang of a building. As they got closer, Kudela saw them and started to flee on foot, the report said.

The officer unholstered their tasers and guns while commanding him to stop, and he was detained in handcuffs. Shortly after, Lytle was discovered lying in some bushes about 10ft from where Kudela was handcuffed. They both agreed to speak with law enforcement, the report said…
