Three individuals have been convicted in a calculated murder that took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office has reported that Bertrand Keeton, Cleveland Pratt Jr., and Lafonjaney Moultrie each faced first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges. The jury found in the case Case #20FE008492 that not only was the crime premeditated, but it was also executed with alarming sophistication and professionalism.
In the chilling sequence of the events, Lafonjaney Moultrie, romantically linked to Cleveland Pratt, ensnared the victim, Lumont Otis, with the promise of a date at said hotel. A damning piece of evidence that surfaced during the trial was a “burner phone” purchased by Pratt the day before the murder—a tool instrumental in relaying the victim’s location to Moultrie and coordinating with Keeton. The execution was cold-blooded; Keeton laid in wait and, upon Otis’s exit from the hotel, struck him down in a barrage of gunfire.
