Owner Says Flowers, Notes Left at Site, Residents Plead for Return on Social Media
Surveillance video captured a man removing the beloved green Apatosaurus statue from a Brentwood Sinclair gas station late Saturday, September 27, then leaving with it in a white pickup, according to the station’s owner, as reported by Fox 11 News.
The theft occurred at 13060 San Vicente Blvd. Footage shows the man walk up to the dinosaur, unscrew it from its base, and depart briefly before returning with a white tarp or blanket. He covers the statue as a white pickup pulls alongside, loads it into the truck bed, and gets into the passenger seat before the vehicle drives off.
The owner said the fiberglass figure, modeled on the Sinclair logo, was given to him by a customer nearly seven years ago and had become a neighborhood fixture. Children often stopped for photos, and the snazzy saurian was dressed for the holidays and special occasions in Dodger Blue…
