An Athol man was sentenced Friday to up to 15 years in state prison following his convictions in August of committing 16 domestic violence, sexual assault and other offenses against his ex-girlfriend when released from prison.
Franklin County Superior Court Judge Jeremy Bucci sentenced Christopher Mundell, 39, to eight to 15 years in state prison for 16 charges, including: six counts of assault and battery on a family or household member; two counts of threatening to commit a crime; and single counts of suffocation, kidnapping, indecent assault and battery, assault with intent to commit rape, intimidation of a witness and other charges.
The charges against Mundell, 39, stem from a series of domestic violence and sexual assault incidents involving his former girlfriend that occurred in Athol and Montague on various dates in 2021 and 2022, according to Northwestern District Attorney David E. Sullivan’s office…
