Ike Turner Jr., Son of Music Legends, Dies at 67
Ike Turner Jr., son of music icon Ike Turner and adopted son of the late Tina Turner, has passed away at the age of 67. Reports indicate he died on Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital, just a day after his 67th birthday on October 3.
His death was attributed to kidney failure, which followed a prolonged battle with severe heart issues. He had also suffered a stroke last month.
While largely staying out of the public eye, Ike Turner Jr. was initially born to Ike Turner and Lorraine Taylor in 1958. He was later adopted by Tina Turner when she married his father, and she played a significant role in raising him. Following in his parents’ musical footsteps, he pursued a career behind the scenes as a sound engineer.
The news of his passing, first reported by TMZ, prompted an immediate outpouring of condolences and support from fans online.
His life was marked by complex family dynamics. Ike Turner Jr. shared in a 2018 interview that he had not spoken to Tina Turner since around 2000, despite her being “the only mother I’ve ever known.” He also recounted a harrowing incident where he alleged his father physically assaulted him with a .45 pistol after learning he was working with Tina following her divorce from Ike Sr.
Ike Turner Jr. was one of four children connected to the tumultuous relationship between Ike and Tina Turner. Tina also had a son, Raymond Craig, who was adopted by Ike Sr., and the couple shared one biological child, Ronnie Turner. Ike Jr. and his brother Michael were from Ike Sr.’s previous relationship before Tina adopted them.
