Bad Bunny Juggles Super Bowl Buzz and SNL Host Duties in Whirlwind Week

It’s been quite the whirlwind for global superstar Bad Bunny, who seems to be making headlines everywhere you look. From a massive Super Bowl announcement to a show-stopping return to Saturday Night Live, the Puerto Rican sensation has given fans and critics alike plenty to talk about.

The biggest news dropped on Sunday, September 28, when Apple Music officially unveiled Bad Bunny as the headliner for the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. The announcement, made during the Dallas Cowboys-Green Bay Packers game, sent a wave of excitement through his devoted fanbase.

However, not everyone was thrilled with the choice, with some expressing outrage over the “MONACO” singer’s selection for the highly anticipated event. This came despite earlier whispers that big names like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, or even Metallica might take the stage.

Just days later, on October 5, Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) took center stage again, this time hosting the Season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live. This marked his second time at the helm of the iconic sketch comedy show, with Doja Cat joining him as the musical guest.

During his opening monologue, Bad Bunny playfully explained his return to SNL, stating he “needed a rest” after completing a grueling 31-show residency in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He then recounted how numerous celebrities, including Jon Hamm, had flocked to see his performances.

In a hilarious segment, Bad Bunny shared “footage” of Hamm at one of his shows, affectionately dubbing him “Juan Jamon.” The camera then cut to Hamm himself, sitting in the SNL audience, still sporting the same festive Hawaiian shirt and shorts combo from the video, clearly still in the party spirit.

The multi-talented artist didn’t shy away from the Super Bowl chatter during his monologue either. “You might not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” he quipped, adding, “And I’m very happy, and I think everyone is happy about it.” He even poked fun at the dissenting voices, jokingly splicing together clips of FOX News commentators seemingly praising him as their “favorite musician” and suggesting he “should be the next president.”

Getting serious for a moment, Bad Bunny reiterated his excitement. “But really, I’m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl and I know people all around the world that love my music are also happy,” he shared.

He then delivered a powerful message in Spanish, emphasizing, “Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors. It’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us.

Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”

With a confident gaze directly into the camera, he concluded his message with a challenge: “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”

Super Bowl LX is slated for Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Mark your calendars!
