Colonie honors Veterans with resources and support at Stand Down event

COLONIE, NY (WRGB) — Hundreds of former military personnel from the Capital Region were honored at Colonie’s Veteran Stand Down event on Saturday. The event, named after a military directive allowing personnel to relax, aimed to provide resources and support to those who served the country.

Mayor James Rubino emphasized the importance of the event, which took 8 months of planning.

“They served our country with distinction and honor. If we could give them a winter coat and a sleeping bag, that’s the least we should do,” Rubino said…
