Thousands gather to honor 10-year-old boy who died after Dickson County shooting

DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thousands of people lined Main Street in Dickson Sunday to honor the life of 10-year-old Carter Franklin Lee Smith, a boy who loved everyone he met.

The sound of motorcycles, sirens, and horns filled the air as countless bikers, emergency crews, and even dump truck drivers joined a massive procession leading Carter from Taylor Funeral Home to his final resting place in Memory Gardens in Hickman County on Sunday, Oct. 5.

Many dressed the way Carter would have wanted — in Kansas City Chiefs red, Marvel superhero shirts, Nashville Predators jerseys, and even Halloween costumes, honoring his family’s wish for a colorful celebration that reflected his personality…
