GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Pulaski Days celebration is in full swing, a weeklong tradition honoring polish heritage in West Michigan. On Saturday, families turned Michigan Street into a sea of red and white celebrating Polish pride at the big parade.
“I love it,” said Jack Szpeinski, who has been watching the parade go by every year for 40 years. “I couldn’t even get down the sidewalk. I had to take the backroads. I think it’s beautiful, people coming out and having fun.”

Szpeinski and his wife, Amanda, recently moved to Fremont, Indiana. They drove two hours to bring their 5-month-0old baby to the parade for the first time. For them, spending time with family and recognizing where they come from is what Pulaski Days is all about.
“It’s all about family and friends,” he said. “There’s a good group of friends here and they’re here every year, as well. When I walk around, I see the same people I’ve seen for 40 years. Everyone’s happy and smiling and having fun.”…
