Schoolcraft council talks turkey about chickens

Schoolcraft village finances are healthy, according to an audit presented by Douglas Wohlberg at a September council meeting.

The accountant outlined the Village’s responsibilities, including financial statements and a system of internal controls. It is his responsibility to report any noncompliance with laws and regulations he uncovers. These if found would be reported to the Village Council and the Michigan Department of Treasury. There were none.

He reported that the general fund taxable value has increased from $44,445,041 in 2021 to $53,039,835 in 2025. During that period, general fund property tax revenues increased from $653,238 to $739,318…
