Cheekwood to host 11th annual Japanese Moon Viewing Festival with cultural showcases

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Cheekwood Estate & Gardens is hosting the 11th Annual Japanese Moon Viewing Festival.

This event, known as Otsukimi, will take place on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is a celebration of Japanese art, culture and gardens. The festival is held in partnership with the Consulate-General of Japan and the Japan-America Society of Tennessee.

“The Japanese Moon Viewing Festival at Cheekwood is an extraordinarily unique event in our region with cultural performances and demonstrations that are hard to find anywhere else,” said Jonathan Contrades, the Cultural Programs Coordinator for the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville.

Guests can enjoy a variety of activities including tea ceremonies, a kimono fashion show, musical performances and art activities. Highlights include performances by Nashville Taiko and Shamisen Knoxville, as well as a kendama demonstration…
