Evanston pastor pushed by agents at Broadview protest

One of the protesters who was shoved back from Harvard Street at Friday’s protest outside the ICE facility in Broadview was the Rev. Michael Woolf, senior minister at Lake Street Church of Evanston. He suffered bruises on his chest from agents pushing him back on the lawn. Later, he said he didn’t think he would be arrested. “As long as you don’t push or physically engage with them, you’re good,” he said. But peaceful demonstrators just a few feet from him were arrested.

Woolf has been at many protests over the years, but it was his first trip to Broadview.

“I went down there specifically because I was worried that ICE agents were going to wind up killing somebody. I thought that my presence might be somewhat useful in trying to bring tensions down a little bit,” he said…
