‘I felt like I needed to do the right thing’: Suspect in Simon Cuevas’ murder surrenders

SAN ANTONIO — A 17-year-old suspect in the murder of another teen is now in custody after turning himself in to police on Sunday. Andrew Cantu was named a suspect in the murder of 14-year-old Simon Cuevas last month.

On April 16, Cuevas was walking home from Brewer Academy when police say he was beaten and shot by a group of teens. When police arrived at the scene, they found Cuevas with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
