At the age of 4 or 5, Troy resident Pat Fleming visited his first Capital Region diner, Henry’s Restaurant in Lansingburgh, alongside his father. It became his favorite diner up until it closed in the mid-2000s.
Fleming, now 28, still visits diners with his father, Peter. Fleming’s over two decades of going to diners and the nostalgic comfort they serve inspired him to start a social media account spotlighting their deep family histories, vintage decor and plates stacked with steaming-hot breakfast foods.
“I was going to these diners and I would notice that not a lot of people were in here. Maybe it’s an older crowd, a lot of empty tables,” Fleming said. “So what I wanted to do is get the next generation of diner enthusiasts to come in and support their local diner.”
That’s when Fleming started “Another Day Another Diner,” which he has run on social media including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube since May. It has 50,000 followers across the four platforms and counting, and his videos have attracted millions of views, including nearly 500,000 views on the second video he posted on TikTok, which highlighted the South Troy Diner…
