LONDON, Ky. – A Detroit, Michigan man, whose 2024 arrest by a multi-agency task force was a high-traffic story for ClayCoNews, has been sentenced in Laurel Circuit Court on fentanyl trafficking charges.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office reported that Deandre L. Chappell Jr., now 27, pleaded guilty to importing a fentanyl derivative and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. He received a five-year sentence and, due to the nature of the charge, will be required to serve 85% of that time.

The conviction concludes a case that began on March 2, 2024, when the Laurel County “Drug Interdiction” Task Force arrested Chappell in a business parking lot in London.
