Driver dies after car overturns, hits stopped Mercedes on SR-46 in Sanford, troopers say; Roadway shutdown

SANFORD, Fla. – A deadly crash involving two vehicles shut down State Road 46 in Sanford after a driver struck a guardrail before falling onto the roadway below, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just after 10 a.m. on Monday.

Preliminary reports indicate a 2008 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Interstate 4, approaching the State Road 46 overpass. For reasons unknown, the Honda driver ran off the roadway to the left, striking the median guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn onto SR-46, where it collided with a Mercedes that was stopped in the eastbound left turn lane, troopers said…
