Raleigh Drivers Advised of South Bloodworth Street Closure Starting October 13 for Infrastructure Project

Heads up, Raleigh commuters: the 600 Block of South Bloodworth Street is getting shut down for a stretch. Commencing October 13, the area between East South Street and East Lenoir Street will be fully off-limits for vehicles as the city kicks off a capital improvement project. You’ll need to plan ahead if you usually drive through that part of town between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or you might find yourself tangled in detour spaghetti. And take note, this isn’t going to be a one-off inconvenience—it’s slated to run right through until November 7, according to the City of Raleigh’s announcement.

For those who live nearby or have local haunts in the area, the good news is that your water and sewer service should keep on running like clockwork. No interruptions are expected, so your daily routines can continue mostly unshaken. However, parking will get a bit tight since restrictions are to be enforced around the construction site. If you tend to park and dash, you might want to think again or risk returning to find your car having made a costly new friend in the form of a parking ticket.

For those needing to navigate around the closure, detour routes have been laid out. If you’re heading north on S Bloodworth Street, prepare to take a right onto Worth Street, followed by a left onto S East Street, a left onto E Lenoir Street, and then a right back onto S Bloodworth Street. Should you be traveling south, you’ll have to quickly to make a left onto E Lenoir Street, pivot right onto S East Street, take another right onto Worth Street, and then loop back onto S Bloodworth Street with a left turn. It may sound like a dance routine, but it’ll save you from the frustration of running into dead ends…
