Wrongful death lawsuit filed against Arbors at Sylvania over alleged ‘inadequate care’ at facility

SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The estate of a man has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Arbors at Sylvania, claiming the nursing home’s “inadequate care” and understaffing led to the man’s death earlier this year.

The complaint, filed Monday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court, alleges that 79-year-old Samuel Frank Ray Sr. developed a severe bedsore that became infected while under the facility’s care, ultimately causing his death on Jan. 17, 2025.

According to the lawsuit, Ray was admitted to Arbors at Sylvania on Aug. 30, 2024, after several hospital stays for infections and pneumonia. He was reportedly alert and had no skin issues upon admission.
