Waterways in Ascension, Livingston Parishes closing to recreational traffic due to rising water levels

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) – Waterways in Ascension and Livingston Parish are closed to recreational traffic due to rising water levels.

Leaders in both parishes made the announcement on Sunday, October 5, and said the emergency closures took effect at noon.

In Livingston Parish, the Amite River and Diversion Canal from the weir south to Lake Maurepas and small tributaries off the Amite River are impacted. Also included in the emergency closure are the Tickfaw River and its small tributaries…
