UW–Madison Student Shot After Fight Outside Fraternity House on Langdon Street

MADISON, Wisconsin — A University of Wisconsin–Madison student was hospitalized after being shot during a large altercation Friday night outside a Langdon Street fraternity house, prompting an emergency BadgerSAFE alert and police lockdown.

Chaos Erupts on Langdon Street

According to The Daily Cardinal, the incident occurred outside the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house at 221 Langdon Street around 11:20 p.m., when a fight involving multiple people broke out.

Video obtained by student journalists showed a crowd of students and bystanders engaged in a physical brawl when one participant pulled out a firearm and fired into the group.

The 18-year-old victim, a UW–Madison student, was shot and rushed to a local hospital, where he was treated and released later that night. Another individual sustained minor injuries during the scuffle but did not require hospitalization…
