High-Speed Chase Through Kenai and Soldotna Draws Multi-Agency Response

A dangerous high-speed pursuit that began in Kenai and ended in Soldotna on Sunday afternoon led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Anchorage man, after a multi-agency response that included officers from the Kenai Police Department, Soldotna Police Department, and Alaska State Troopers.

According to charging affidavits filed by Kenai Police Officer Sarah Herrin and Soldotna Police Sergeant Reid Culver, the incident began around 3:46 p.m. on October 5, 2025, when Officer Herrin clocked a gray 2019 Toyota Tacoma traveling toward Soldotna at 99 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone near mile 7 of the Kenai Spur Highway, about a half mile before Beaver Loop. When Herrin activated her emergency lights and siren to make a traffic stop, the driver accelerated eastbound toward Soldotna, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour, passing vehicles in the oncoming lane and forcing others off the road.

Herrin temporarily lost sight of the vehicle near Marydale Drive due to heavy traffic and rain, but quickly relocated it, weaving through traffic near Beemuns.
