Cleveland has seen a recent uptick in car-related crimes, and in a recent turn of events, the Cleveland Police made headway by arresting two teenagers. On Friday night, around 9 p.m., officers detained two girls, aged 13 and 17, after a stolen car was spotted and a brief pursuit ensued, reported Cleveland19. The car, identified earlier by FLOCK cameras in Ohio City and Gordon Square, was intercepted by authorities near West 73rd Street and Detroit Avenue, where the incident led to a chase ending in a dead end, according to FOX8.
Upon discovery at the dead end, five individuals fled the vehicle in various directions, although the officers were successful in apprehending the two teenagers, while the other suspects remain at large. The aforementioned alert noted—the youngest of the arrestees was also listed as a missing person from Maple Heights by Cleveland.com. Both teens were charged with receiving stolen property processed at the juvenile detention center and subsequently released to their caregivers with home detention monitors pending their court appearance.
The arrests come in the wake of a number of car thefts and break-ins that have plagued Cleveland’s Tremont and Ohio City neighborhoods, a problem Cleveland Police have been actively trying to combat.
