WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WFIE) – 14 News continues its investigation into the coal refuse dam at the old AMAX Ayrshire mine site in Warrick County.
14 News first reported about the dam on September 24 when Warrick County Surveyor Dennis Wilzbacher said the structure was showing “early signs of failure” and could catastrophically impact the area and its residents if it did fail.
“As I inspect around the toe of the dam near the creek, it’s wet there,” Wilzbacher said. “So, I think that the discharge is finding its way through the dam and seeping through and out that way.”…
