GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro Science Center is celebrating the arrival of its first trumpeter hornbill chick, which hatched Aug. 2 and made its first appearance outside the nest on Oct. 3.
The chick’s parents, Ronnie and Jazz, have been at the center since 2021. Ronnie, the female, is known for her bold personality, while Jazz, the male, is more reserved. Together, they have captured the hearts of staff and visitors alike.
“From the moment they were introduced, Ronnie and Jazz were instantly compatible,” said Darcie, the birds’ primary animal care specialist. “Whether feeding or preening each other, or people-watching from their exhibit window, they always take care of one another.”…
