A police chase in Huntington Beach that began early Saturday morning ended with a suspect dead after their vehicle crashed into another car and a pole. According to a report by City News Service, the Huntington Beach Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle being driven recklessly around Pacific Coast Highway and Brookhurst Street at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Saturday. The driver, upon failing to stop for a traffic enforcement at Beach Boulevard and Talbert Avenue, led officers on a pursuit that tragically concluded at Beach Boulevard and Warner Avenue.
The vehicle, a black SUV, was being driven at high speeds and failed to yield to police officers attempting to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect continued to dangerously lead the chase to Warner Avenue, where they crashed into another vehicle and subsequently into a pole. The officers and paramedics on the scene tried to save the suspect’s life, but the driver was pronounced dead at the location. “Officers and paramedics attempted life-saving measures; however, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” HBPD spokesman Corbin Carson told City News Service.
As per a separate release from the Huntington Beach Police Department, the woman in the other vehicle involved in the accident did not sustain injuries and refused medical treatment. Notably, the California Highway Patrol is conducting the official traffic collision investigation, and the area around Beach Boulevard and Warner Avenue was closed for several hours to facilitate this process…
