Brace for pea-sized hail with thunderstorms in Michigan Monday – gusts could peak at 40 mph

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 8:15 p.m. EDT on Monday for strong thunderstorms until 9:15 p.m. EDT for Allegan, Barry, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties.

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) are predicted.

“At 8:15 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Martin to near Otsego. Movement was east at 50 mph,” according to the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.”…
