Tennessee nonprofit warns Affordable Care Act funding cuts could leave expectant mothers behind

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In Nashville, Elise Jenkins runs Ella’s House, a nonprofit that gives pregnant students a safe place to live and helps them find affordable medical care.

That mission, she said, depends on the Affordable Care Act. During the pandemic, Congress expanded and enhanced ACA tax credits to make plans cheaper for working families. Those credits are extended through 2025. Unless lawmakers act, they’ll soon expire.
