The NAACP New York State Conference (NAACP-NYS) will convene its 89th Annual State Convention from Oct. 9–12 at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, New York, bringing together community leaders, policymakers, and advocates from across the state under the theme “Rooted to Rise: Building Power Across New York.”
This year’s gathering, led by NAACP-NYS President L. Joy Williams and Executive Director Christopher Alexander, represents a reinvigorated approach to statewide advocacy. Designed as a policy-driven, action-oriented convention, the event aims to equip local branches with concrete tools, strategic insights, and collaborative networks to drive measurable change within their communities.
The conference will open with a Black Policy Roundtable on Oct. 9, featuring key voices shaping New York’s legislative and social justice landscape. Discussions will center on major issues impacting Black New Yorkers, including reparations, healthcare, education equity, environmental justice, and prison reform, all ahead of the 2026 New York Legislative Session…
