As fans prepare for the 2025 Red River Rivalry between the Sooners and Longhorns, drivers in Oklahoma should prepare for travel disruptions as multiple road projects are set to impact highways and interstates across the state.
The I-35 Southern Corridor will remain open with two lanes in each direction from Oklahoma City to the Texas state line, but heavy traffic is expected. Motorists are advised to plan extra travel time or consider alternate routes such as US-81, US-69/75, US-377, or US-77.
Several sections of I-40 will be narrowed to one lane:
I-40 narrowed to one lane near Hydro, Caddo Co.
East and westbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction east of SH-58 near Hydro (mm 89-96) for pavement rehabilitation
I-40 narrowed to one lane near Erick, Beckham Co.
East and westbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at SH-30 in Erick for a bridge rehabilitation project.
I-40 narrowed to one lane near Okemah, Okfuskee Co.
East and westbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction over the North Canadian River between SH-56 and SH-48 near Okemah for bridge work.
US-69 narrowed to one lane in Atoka, Atoka Co.
North and southbound US-69 will be narrowed to one lane from East 1st St. to Court St. in Atoka for surface work.
US-62 narrowed to one lane in Muskogee, Muskogee Co.
US-62 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at SH-165 in Muskogee for bridge work.
US-177 narrowed to one lane near Shawnee, Pottawatomie Co.
US-177/US-270 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between SH-18 and I-40 near Shawnee for pavement rehabilitation.
US-277 narrowed near Elgin, Comanche Co.
Northbound and southbound US-277 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from SH-17 to I-44 near Elgin for pavement rehabilitation.
