Man arrested after restaurant, churches burglarized on or near St. Claude Avenue

A man was arrested Monday in connection to several burglaries in the St. Claude neighborhood, including churches and a restaurant, New Orleans police said.

Robert Shavers, 46, was booked on five counts of simple burglary of a business as well as simple criminal damage to property, according to Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office records

Alcohol, ice cream, cleaning supplies, and toilet paper were among the items detectives believe Shavers stole from two churches — one of them twice — plus a day care center and a restaurant…
