Assemblymember Bains release statement after deadly Bakersfield shooting near her home

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Office of Assemblymember Dr. Jasmeet Bains (D-Delano) released a statement after a deadly shooting happened in northeast Bakersfield near her residence.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on October 5, at around 12:55 a.m., officers were called to the 3400 block of Meadow Vista Court regarding a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Evan Zion Alema suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He later died at the scene.

Two people, 24-year-old Justin Hernandez-Florez and 20-year-old Jaden Ambriz, were later arrested that day. They were booked into Kern County Jail for homicide and related weapons charges…
