Austin Peay’s new program: military service equals college degrees

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) – Austin Peay State University is rolling out a groundbreaking initiative to help veterans transition into civilian jobs by recognizing military service as equivalent to college degrees.

This move is a first for Tennessee and aims to support the many soldiers from Fort Campbell who settle in Clarksville after service. Retired Maj. Gen. Walt Lord, Austin Peay’s vice president for Military and Veterans Affairs, emphasized the importance of this initiative, saying it opens new career paths for veterans and values their military leadership experience.
