Man killed after firing shots at Rockingham County deputies attempting to serve domestic violence warrants

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — One person is dead after a deputy-involved shooting in Reidsville, according to Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page.

According to the sheriff’s office, a woman contacted them to report a domestic violence case. Reportedly, the man told her he would shoot her if she came back to the home on Dennis Drive and that he would shoot deputies as well.

Multiple deputies went to the home to serve warrants for multiple counts, including domestic violence and communicating threats, and to escort the victim. Then the sheriff’s office says that the suspect fired through a bedroom window at the deputies. The man, a 31-year-old black male who has not been publicly identified yet, came outside, continued firing and the deputies returned fire, killing the suspect.

“The deputies did exactly what they’re supposed to do. They protected themselves, and they protected this young lady,” Sheriff Sam Page said…
