Calls for accountability grow after South Shore ICE raid leaves residents shaken

CHICAGO (WGN) — Elected officials and immigration advocates are demanding answers and accountability following an ICE raid that took place nearly a week ago at a South Shore apartment building.

Early last Tuesday morning, agents stormed the building near South Shore Drive and 75th Street. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino said the operation targeted members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

However, some elected leaders, advocates and residents say innocent people, including children, had their doors kicked in and family members pulled from their homes in the middle of the night…
