DES MOINES, Iowa — A new hyper-realistic mural with an augmented reality surprise will soon adorn the side of a parking garage in downtown Des Moines.
Through a partnership between the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation and Principal Financial Group, Dutch artist Leon Keer will paint the more than 8,000-square-foot street art at 901 Grand Ave. According to a news release, Keer’s art installation will showcase vintage televisions featuring Iowa landscapes collected from the City of Des Moines, Pella Tulip Time, the Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge and more.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Leon Keer, whose public art installations have been featured around the globe,” Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation Director Alexa McCarthy said in a statement. “Keer’s mural with AR technology is groundbreaking for the Des Moines Metro.”…
