Downtown Naperville Condo Fire Causes Over $20,000 In Damage

NAPERVILLE, IL — A rooftop fire on a five-story condominium building in downtown Naperville caused over $20,000 in damage Saturday night, but firefighters say quick action prevented the flames from spreading to nearby structures.

Flames Reported On Roof Of South Washington Street Building

According to the Naperville Fire Department, dispatchers received a call around 7:55 p.m. on October 4 reporting flames on the roof of a residential building in the 100 block of South Washington Street.

Fire crews arrived within two minutes and confirmed a working fire on the roof. Using hose lines and an aerial ladder, firefighters accessed the top of the building while ensuring residents safely evacuated.

Crews were able to contain the blaze to the area around a vent stack and fully extinguished the fire within 40 minutes of arrival. Firefighters remained on scene for about half an hour afterward to check for hot spots.

No Injuries, Cause Under Investigation

Officials confirmed that no residents, pets, or firefighters were injured. The building has been deemed safe and habitable, though the cause of the fire remains under investigation…
