A St. Louis man, who was a suspect in a shooting with injuries in downtown Columbia earlier this year, has been arrested.
Travis Jones, 22, is charged with first- degree assault, armed criminal action, stealing a weapon, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, and resisting arrest. The charges were filed against Jones in April, but his court records were only unsealed following his arrest.
The charges stem from a shooting in the area of Broadway and Tenth Street on April 13. One victim was shot in the leg, another in the neck. An officer on patrol spotted two men holding firearms in the area, one of whom allegedly pointed his gun at the patrol car and fired two shots. The officer chased after the suspects, giving them commands to stop. The suspect who allegedly fired at the patrol vehicle did stop and put his hands up.
