Akron Prepares for Festive and Safe Halloween with Citywide Trick or Treat and Family-Friendly Events

Halloween in Akron is shaping up to be a treat for the whole family with the city’s Trick or Treat night scheduled for Saturday, October 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. Residents ready to hand out candy can signal their participation by lighting up their porch or front lights during these hours, and Akron Police will be increasing patrols to ensure safety for the trick-or-treaters, as detailed in an announcement by the City of Akron.

The confluence of events set for the month will lean into Akron’s long-standing traditions and its vibrant community spirit, “It’s time to celebrate the annual tradition of Trick-or-Treating across the City of Akron,” Akron Mayor Shammas Malik enthused, adding, “I’m excited for children to have fun at the festivities happening around town. I hope residents of all ages have a fun and safe Halloween!” as stated in a City of Akron news release. With a host of activities ranging from the Downtown Akron Partnership’s Fall Fest on October 18 to the Better Kenmore CDC’s Thriller on the BLVD and Akron Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo, there’s no shortage of Halloween spirit to go around.

On October 25, in addition to trick or treating, residents can also get their groove on with the “Thriller on the BLVD” event hosted by Better Kenmore CDC, featuring dance lessons and a performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” scheduled for noon. The various Halloween-themed happenings also include seasonal delights such as the Akron Children’s Museum Hands on Halloween event and spooky performances at the Akron Civic Theatre throughout the month, whose details can be further explored…
