A federal grand jury indicted a Tennessee police officer after he allegedly assaulted his estranged girlfriend, trashed her belongings and threatened to kill her — all while he was on duty.
Alan James Greenman, then a patrolman for the Clarksville Police Department, stands accused of kidnapping, stalking and deprivation of rights in connection with the Aug. 20 incident. According to a probable cause affidavit, the 38-year-old Greenman began his shift just after 5:30 a.m. that day and entered his girlfriend’s apartment complex several times by using a gate code for the utility company, which is not accessible to the general public.
The girlfriend told investigators she arrived home around 6:30 a.m. that day to find Greenman outside her door. The two had been in a romantic relationship but were taking a break. She had given him a key to the apartment but asked him to return it. Greenman and his girlfriend began arguing after he accused her of cheating on him and demanded to search her phone, the complaint said…
