Mobile man admits to killing ex-girlfriend’s brother, shooting at police officers

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Facing trial, a man this week accepted a plea bargain on charges related to a fatal shooting and a shootout with police officers.

Lawyers were just about to pick a jury Monday afternoon when Zackery Talmage Hannah, 23, of Mobile, pleaded guilty to nine felony charges – murder, seven counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. A judge accepted the sentencing recommendation in the plea deal and imposed a 30-year prison term.

Mobile County Chief Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Susman said prosecutors had witnesses – including SWAT officers – lined up and ready to testify. She said at its heart, this was a domestic violence case…
