Coconut Creek Police Issue Scam Alert After Resident Targeted in Microsoft Support Scam

The Coconut Creek Police Department is warning residents about the return of the Microsoft Support scam after a 72-year-old man fell victim to the criminal scheme.

According to police, the man received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft’s Support Team. The caller informed him that his bank account information had been compromised due to a virus on his computer.

Another person, also part of the scam, then got on the phone and instructed the man to go to a store and buy gift cards in order to fix the issue. Believing the call was legitimate, the man purchased the gift cards and provided the scammers with the numbers on the back…
